At Sensata, we offer numerous career paths. For the design engineer, you may begin your career designing some of our complex devices to meet the specific needs of one of our demanding customers. After this role, you may find yourself at an exciting crossroads in your career. You may choose to stay on our technical path and continue trying to solve some of the challenging engineering issues. This gives our technical experts the opportunity to have a rewarding career that is equivalent in terms of recognition and rewards to our more traditional managerial ranks. Some may choose to move to marketing, program management or demand planning, as just a few examples. Others may want to pursue a managerial path in the engineering organization. Sensata needs talented people who want to move into all of these different areas.
All of these career pathways have common competencies in terms of defining strategy, effective project execution, innovation, influencing customers and knowledge sharing and working collaboratively across the organization.
If engineering is not your area of expertise, we certainly have opportunities in Sensata. We continue to seek talented professionals in finance, IT, HR, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, and Customer Service just to name a few. As an IT expert, you may start your career with Sensata as a disaster recovery specialist and then find your way to the Program Management team, an Integration team or on the newest worldwide rollout of Oracle. Does Sensata hire people straight out of college?
Yes! We actively recruit at a number of universities in the region. We visit university campuses in the Fall to recruit for December and May graduates who are looking for full time opportunities. We go back to campus in the Spring to recruit for summer interns. But don’t feel like you have to wait for us to come to your school. What does Sensata look for when hiring full time students?
Sensata requires an in-depth technical knowledge from its candidates. Recruitment for full-time hiring begins in the fall of each academic year. You must be graduating with a degree from an accredited university to be considered. Students must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be eligible to work in the United States. Does Sensata offer internship programs?
Yes we do. Sensata’s internship program provides opportunities for students (both undergraduates and graduates) to work in a global environment where they can be challenged and also be engaged in a variety of programs that are focused on developing their technical and leadership skills. At the same time, students are able to build business relationships with talented professionals within the company and take part in company sponsored community service events as a group.
Overview and Eligibility Requirements
Sensata’s internship program is a 10-12 week program offered in the summer (June – August). You must be a full time student, enrolled in an accredited university or college with a degree in engineering (we occasionally offer internship opportunities in marketing, supply chain and ESH fields. Please check our job listings for more information on internship opportunities). Students must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be able to work the entire period that the internship is offered.

What would I be doing during my internship with Sensata?
Interns will work on real projects with a team of people. Projects vary depending on business needs. Interns also participate in regular lunch and learn events throughout the summer. Community service and social events are also a part of the intern experience. At the end of the summer, each intern is expected to give a presentation to the business leaders on their projects and contributions.
How can I prepare for an interview with Sensata?
Hiring managers will ask technical questions during your interview so be prepared. Other things to do include:
A. Research our company – Look on the website for recent news and review some of the products and financials.
B. Come prepared with paper and pen. Many of the questions can be easier to answer if you draw a picture to explain your thoughts.
C. Dress professionally. Although we are a business casual environment, you will want to wear appropriate business attire.
D. Don’t be late. Test drive directions to ensure you know where you’re going.
E. Practice interviewing with mock interviews and on campus interviews. Practice responses so you are covering your accomplishments and results.
F. Ask good questions that are relevant to the role.
G. Close effectively by sending a thank you email emphasizing interest in position and mention facts you may have omitted in your interview.
